The importance of strength, resistance training, & social connection
18 months ago I don't think I had ever done a Burpee in my life. When I started CrossFit I could manage about 5.
Today our little band of 5 women aged 48-67 smashed our target of 500. We did 1170 between us.
I managed 265. This was added to the rest of CrossFit Incursion's members target of 60,000 Burpees in aid of the Mountbatten Hospice.
Strength and resistance training is so important for good health and longevity, especially for women to prevent osteoporosis.
I am super proud of my body and what it can do at 48 that it wouldn't have been able to do at 28.
Not only have I improved my fitness but I have developed a bond with our CrossFit group. We keep each other accountable, as if we stop showing up the team would be too small to continue.
